“Martin always goes for the best achievable result and he doesn’t shy away from a challenge. He is smart, sociable and committed. You can have a really good conversation with him, he listens and is genuinely interested in what you have to say. He encourages others, supports them, and likes to share his knowledge without ever bragging about it. While he is regularly mentioned by other MVPs and Microsoft employees because he has come up with something genius again, he will always say, “We did it together. And that is precisely what makes Martin a very fine colleague.”
Martin is MVP and Co-maintainer at CLI for Microsoft 365 (PNP). He also has his own blog.
His unique combination of technical knowledge and humanity: he not only builds smart solutions, but also relationships, trust and connection.
A special beer or a good conversation, but actually you can make him most happy with a combination of these!
From an early age, Martin was fascinated by IT. What started with playing games and taking computers apart grew into an abiding interest in technology. Through web design he found his way into the IT world, but he was looking for more. Through Peter, he ended up at I4-YOU and there he started working with SharePoint. He discovered how versatile SharePoint is and that got him very excited. But what makes him most happy? Creating solutions that really help customers.
Martin gets energy from conceiving and building solutions that are not only technically sound, but also really mean something to the user. Every client has a different question and a different way of working. That variety makes his work challenging and fun. Whether it’s a small adjustment or a larger project that changes processes, Martin wants to create something that really helps clients move forward.
Looking beyond the latest trends
In IT, new trends pop up regularly, but Martin doesn’t just get carried away with them. Of course he is curious and likes to try out new things, but he always remains realistic. He always asks himself whether something is really future-proof, what it can bring him and the customers in the long term, and whether it delivers value or is just another hype that will soon pass.
Collaboration is key
Technology plays a big role in Martin’s work, but for him it’s about the complete picture. The real challenge lies in involving people. A system can be technically well put together, but if it is not used or does not fit the daily practice of the customer, it has little value. For many customers, a solution is simply a tool: something that helps them do their work easier or better. That’s why Martin always looks beyond technology. Only when people understand it, want to work with it and it really becomes part of their process, is the project successful as far as he is concerned.
To that end, he constantly seeks collaboration. He loves sparring with colleagues, sharing ideas and looking for smarter and better solutions together. This not only makes the work more fun, but also ensures that the result is stronger. The combination of technology, people and cooperation makes every project unique.
A team to be proud of
At I4-YOU we work in a close-knit team where everyone brings their own expertise. According to Martin, this mix of backgrounds, knowledge and perspectives ensures that we really complement and strengthen each other. What binds us is the shared drive to help clients further and to create something beautiful together. We think along with each other, give space to each other’s ideas and assist where necessary.
That open culture suits Martin perfectly. He feels at home in an environment where initiative is appreciated and where there is room to experiment. What he particularly appreciates is that the work is broad and varied, no boxes, no fixed lines, but making something new every day with real impact. And perhaps most importantly: at I4-YOU it’s not just about the numbers, but also about the people behind the work. This personal approach makes Martin really feel at home here.
